Kazan Mother of God Icon copy officially conveyed to Mother of God Monastery

On July 21, after the Holly liturgy in the Annunciation Cathedral a sacred procession from Kazan Kremlin to Mother of God Monastery has been performed. Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexi II and Archbishop of Kazan and Tatarstan Anastasi signed a formal note on conveyance of Kazan Mother of God Icon to the Mother of God Monastery in two copies. Mayor of Kazan Kamil Iskhakov signed the document on behalf of secular power. Kamil Iskhakov has done a lot to return the Icon where it was found.

Alexi II noted in his congratulatory speech that by a mutual will of secular powers and clergy the Icon will take its well-deserved place within the Exaltation of the Cross Church. The Patriarch wished all the gathered: “And let the lamp of unquenchable faith, firm hope and creative love be burning in front of this icon!” Then he prayed Mother of God for well-being and prosperity of the country.
