M.Shaimiev: Creation of European Muslim union - behest of time

The meeting of President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev with delegation of the European Muslim union took place in the Kazan Kremlin. Agenda of the meeting covered problems of Muslims living in the countries of Europe, their interaction with representatives of various faiths and experience of tolerant Tatarstan.

European Muslim union (EMU) has been founded in Istanbul in May, this year. It unites members of Muslim communities of 15 countries of Europe, including Russia, Germany, Switzerland, the Great Britain, Spain and others. The purpose of their visit to Kazan - to get acquainted with unique experience of Tatarstan where for many years various religions, civilizations and cultures have been coexisting. The delegation is headed by honourable president of the European Muslim union, deputy of parliament of Turkey, vice-president of Parliamentary assembly of OSCE Nevzat Jalchyntash.
